When Tyson was rescued from the streets of Nepal, he was living with a painful perineal hernia.
Perineal hernias occur when the muscular diaphragm of the pelvis weakens or completely fails, allowing internal tissues to shift into areas where they shouldn’t be. It’s a serious and extremely uncomfortable condition — one that would have made daily survival on the streets especially difficult.
Today, Tyson is doing much better, but he is still in recovery and not yet fully healed. Despite everything his body has been through, Tyson has never let pain define him.
At KAT, Tyson has become something very special. He is often affectionately called the unofficial father of KAT. Calm, steady, and endlessly patient, he keeps a quiet watch over the puppies, making sure the play doesn’t get too rough. When things get a bit chaotic, Tyson gently steps in — not to dominate, but to guide — taking on the role of their caring “uncle” and protector.
Tyson is a true teddy-bear of a dog. He leans into every touch, as though he has been saving up affection his entire life. He asks for pets with soft, hopeful eyes and a gentle wag, soaking up every moment of human connection — and it’s impossible not to fall in love with him.
Life on the streets with a painful medical condition must have been incredibly hard, yet Tyson’s heart remains completely open. He is endlessly friendly with people, gentle with other dogs, and remarkably patient with puppies. He is a tender soul whose greatest joy is simply being close to others.
Tyson is still healing, but thankfully he has no other known health issues. He is comfortable walking around, playing with people, and spending time with the other dogs. With continued care, rest, and support, we are confident that Tyson will make a full recovery.
By sponsoring Tyson, you can help cover the ongoing care he needs as he continues to heal — including medical monitoring, nutrition, and the safe, loving environment that has allowed him to thrive. Most of all, your support ensures that this gentle guardian, who gives so much love to everyone around him, receives the care and security he truly deserves.
