Your generous gift of sponsorship provides us with the means to continue caring for disabled or unwanted dogs for as long as they need.
KAT Centre cares for thousands of street dogs every year and while most are released or re-homed, some, due to their age or injuries, end up requiring months of care and never become well enough to be released. With low rates of adoption for dogs like these, they often face the prospect of having to live out the rest of their lives within the shelter of KAT Centre.
When you become an official sponsor, you will receive regular updates and behind the scenes information about the day to day life of animals at KAT Centre. There is no long term obligation and you are free to cancel at any time.
My story…
Roohi’s path to us is one of the more unusual ones at KAT. Our Cancer Clinic is located in quite a rural area with lots of undeveloped, forested land nearby. It is in one of these wild areas that Roohi was found.
We’re guessing that she was taken there and abandoned, heartlessly left to fend for herself; how scared and lost she must have felt. When she was brought to us, her entire body was infested with mange and she was not only miserable, but understandably terrified of humans. It took some time to win her trust. But- win her trust we did.
Miraculously, her physical recovery took only about a month, and her bubbly personality emerged as well. This little bundle of energy soon became everyone’s favorite, especially Dr. Samir, and she would rather be cuddling on someone’s lap than anywhere else! Of course, her small size and sweet nature make it easy to give in and allow her to accompany us almost everywhere. She’s impossible to refuse!
Because she was discovered in an uninhabited forest and we suspect her of being mistreated, she sadly has no community to which we can return her. Her forever home will be with us at KAT, and we’d love to find someone willing to sponsor her care.
